IACF was founded in 1988 by a group of first-generation individuals from the Indian subcontinent, who felt an altruistic desire to make a contribution to the greater Houston area community at large. What started off as an effort to help fight hunger through the Houston Food Bank has grown into a multi-faceted effort to reach the homeless, the victimized, and the underprivileged, as well as to support scholarships and educational outreach programs.
